Overview

Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture is a focused research program that aims to cover new technical knowledge and innovative ideas for improving crop yields, quality traits, evolving innovative technologies utilizing biotechnology, nanotechnology, precision agriculture technologies and ultimately developing all climate resilient technologies, which minimizes the cost of production and enhances crop yields phenomenally. The Ph.D. program ultimately evolve the scholars, who develop innovative research projects / crop technologies, become excellent teaching experts, competent guides to researchers and evolve socially useful and relevant technologies constantly.

Duration

A Ph.D. in Agriculture is three years full time Program with 6 semesters, which can be completed in a maximum period of 6 years or 12 semesters.

System of Ph.D. Programme (as per ICAR guidelines)

Credit based semester system with 25 credits of course work and 45 credits of Thesis research work to be completed in 3 academic years (6 semesters). Maximum permissible workload is 15 credits / semester.


Eligibility of Admission (as per ICAR guidelines)

Master’s degree in respective discipline / related subjects

7.0/10 or equivalent OGPA / equivalent percentage of marks at Master degree

Entrance cum Academic Performance

Entrance Test - 60% (*Entrance Test in respective Discipline in Agriculture - 50% & Interview - 10%)

Master’s degree - 30%

Bachelor’s degree - 10%
