150 Years of Vande Mataram Celebration at SR University

SR University, one of Telangana’s most dynamic and innovation-driven universities, recently celebrated 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram with grandeur, pride, and deep patriotic spirit. The event brought together students, faculty, and dignitaries to honor one of India’s most powerful symbols of freedom and unity.

The celebrations were graced by Shri Shubham Prakash, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Warangal, as the Chief Guest, alongside distinguished officers Shri Pingili Prashanth Reddy, ACP Kazipet; Shri Cheralu, CI Hanamkonda; and Shri Devender Reddy, SI Hanamkonda. Their presence added great significance to the occasion, inspiring students and faculty alike.

University dignitaries — Dr. Ramana Rao, Registrar; Dr. A. V. V. Sudhakar, Dean – Student Welfare; and Lt. A. Rajeshwar Rao, Associate NCC Officer — also participated in the celebration, encouraging NCC cadets and students to continue embodying the ideals of discipline, unity, and patriotism.

A Celebration of India’s Cultural and National Heritage

The 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram was more than a commemorative event — it was a tribute to India’s struggle for independence and the song that ignited patriotism across generations. SR University’s campus in Warangal came alive with patriotic performances, cultural dances, and musical renditions, all paying homage to the song penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875.

Students from different departments showcased India’s cultural diversity through classical dance, drama, and art exhibits that reflected the theme of Unity in Diversity.

Chief Guest Shri Shubham Prakash’s Inspiring Address

The highlight of the event was the address by Shri Shubham Prakash, IPS, ASP Warangal, who emphasized the importance of national integrity, youth responsibility, and collective growth. He praised SR University’s initiative in nurturing values of discipline, respect, and patriotism among students — qualities essential for building a strong and progressive India.

Vande Mataram is not just a song; it is the heartbeat of our nation. It reminds every Indian of the sacrifices that shaped our freedom and the unity that binds us together.
Shri Shubham Prakash, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Warangal

Unity Through Art, Innovation, and Expression

The event was a true reflection of SR University’s belief that education goes beyond academics. Students from all disciplines — Engineering, Management, Sciences, and Humanities — participated enthusiastically in various patriotic competitions, including:

  • Essay writing on “The Relevance of Vande Mataram in Modern India”
  • Singing and dance performances
