Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Computer Science) program provides a foundation in Mathematics and Computer Science. It covers the knowledge needed to implement mathematical models in simulations that evaluate real world situations. The topics studied include a number of important ideas of mathematics, combined with the core computer science topics of programming, database systems and software engineering, together with the study of mathematical principals underpinning the foundations of computing.
This program aims at preparing graduates for employment in application areas that require substantial input from both these disciplines. You will gain not only knowledge and practical experience of the latest technologies, but also grounding in the underlying principles of the subject. It is this combination of skills that enable our graduates to keep pace with this fast-moving subject, and secure top jobs in industry and research.
A practical industry-focused curriculum designed by academic and industry experts By drawing staff from two 'excellent' rated departments students are taught by experts in each field
The course covers exciting areas such as machine learning and data science which are mathematics heavy, so this enables students to go in careers or further studies in Mathematics or Computer Science
Discrete mathematics, linear algebra, number theory, and graph theory are the math courses most relevant to the computer science profession. Different corners of the profession, from machine learning to software engineering, use these types of mathematics
