Assistant Professor at SR University (Biotechnology & Microbiology) ? engineering microbes and peptides to recover metals and build sustainable materials.
My research sits where microbial engineering, protein design, and sustainability meet. During my PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Ulsan (South Korea), I developed recombinant E. coli with cell-surface-displayed metal-binding peptides that selectively capture cobalt and nickel ? turning industrial and battery wastewater into a resource, not waste.
What I work on:
Metal-binding peptide design & cell-surface display (OmpC / YiaT platforms)
Bioremediation and metal recovery from wastewater
Bacterial cellulose & bio-nanomaterials from agricultural waste
Microbial production of value-added compounds (GABA, L-serine, P3HP)
Computational modelling of metal peptide interactions (Irving Williams, HSAB, electrostatics)
My work has appeared in journals including Bioresource Technology, Journal of Environmental Management, and Bioengineering. I'm a named inventor on a Korean patent application (10-2023-0122295) covering cobalt-binding peptide-based nanoparticle synthesis. Full record: ORCID 0000-0002-3669-4986.
I teach, mentor, and collaborate across India, South Korea, and Taiwan ? currently based in Warangal, Telangana. I'm always open to research collaborations, guest lectures, and industry partnerships in sustainable biotechnology and metal recovery.
