I am a Civil Engineering academic and researcher specializing in River Hydrodynamics, River Eco-morphodynamics, River Corridor Management, and Sustainable River Engineering. I hold a Ph.D. from IIT Guwahati, where my research focused on understanding the eco-morphodynamic processes of large braided river systems, particularly the Brahmaputra River.
My research expertise encompasses river morphology, sediment transport, sandbar dynamics, vegetation-flow interactions, river resilience, flood disturbances, and sustainable river restoration. I have developed novel indicators, including the Intensity Disorder Index (IDI), Stability Trajectory Indicator (STI), and Morphological Instability Index (MI), to quantify river morphological changes and instability. My methodological expertise integrates remote sensing, GIS, Google Earth Engine, satellite imagery, computational fluid dynamics, hydraulic modelling, laboratory experiments, and field instrumentation. I have published research in reputed scientific journals, including Journal of Hydrology, Advances in Water Resources, Catena, and Ecohydrology, and presented at international conferences such as AGU, EGU, and AOGS. My research interests also extend to underwater robotics, sensor-based monitoring, and technology-driven river management.
My teaching interests include Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics and Hydraulic Machines, Open Channel Flow, Engineering Hydrology, River Engineering, Flood Management, Groundwater Hydrology, and Computational Fluid Dynamics. I am particularly interested in integrating artificial intelligence, remote sensing, GIS, and sustainability principles into Civil Engineering education. My teaching approach emphasizes conceptual understanding, experiential learning, numerical problem-solving, and real-world engineering applications.
I aspire to advance interdisciplinary research, mentor future engineers and researchers, strengthen industry-academia collaborations, and develop innovative, nature-inspired solutions for resilient river systems and sustainable water resources management.
