I am Dr. Toton Haldar, an Assistant Professor of Physics at SR University with research expertise in functional nanomaterials, two-dimensional materials, chemical and gas sensors, and AI-assisted materials research. Prior to joining SR University, I gained international postdoctoral research experience at the National Institute of Materials Physics (NIMP), Romania, and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. I have also worked as a Research Scientist in Taiwan, contributing to interdisciplinary research in advanced materials and sensing technologies.
My research focuses on the design and development of advanced sensing platforms using materials such as MXenes, graphene-based systems, metal oxides, conducting polymers, carbon dots, and hybrid nanostructures. My current research interests include wearable and flexible biomedical sensing, room-temperature gas sensing, AI/ML-assisted sensing, and data-driven analysis of material and sensor performance. I am particularly interested in integrating nanomaterials with machine learning for the development of intelligent sensing systems for healthcare, environmental monitoring, and smart devices.
Alongside research, I am actively involved in undergraduate teaching and laboratory-based engineering education, with emphasis on physics, electronics, sensors, functional materials, and interdisciplinary applications.
