Dr. Biswanath Behera is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Astra School of Business, SR University, Warangal. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, an M.A. in Economics from the Central University of Karnataka, and has qualified UGC-NET/JRF. His doctoral research examines how climate change affects food security in Asia and Africa, including the trade-off between food and energy security, while also looking at the role of climate solutions, agricultural green total factor productivity and policy interventions at using advanced panel models and sensitivity analysis.

He has presented his research at international conferences, including the Asia Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development (ACESD 2025) held at Kyushu University, Japan, and the International Conference on Applied Economics & Finance (ICAEF) 2023 held at the Department of Economics and Finance, BITS Pilani, Rajasthan, India.

His research interests are environmental economics, food security, sustainable finance, and energy economics. He has publications in Scopus Q1 and ABDC-A-indexed journals, including Sustainable Development, Environment, Development and Sustainability, International Journal of Sustainable Development & World Ecology, and Transport Policy.
