Dr. Shiladitya Karmakar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, School of Sciences and Humanities, SR University, Warangal, India. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Calcutta, conducting his doctoral research at the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata (2024). Before joining SR University, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic (2024-2026).
His research focuses on computational materials science, condensed matter physics, and theoretical chemistry, with particular emphasis on understanding the electronic, magnetic, and functional properties of materials using first-principles calculations. His research interests include density functional theory (DFT), two-dimensional materials, molecular magnetism, spin-crossover systems, thermoelectric materials, and molecule–surface interactions. He is also interested in integrating machine learning with computational approaches for materials discovery and property prediction.
His teaching interests encompass computational chemistry, quantum mechanics, materials chemistry, molecular modeling, and scientific programming. He aims to bridge fundamental theoretical concepts with practical computational tools, encouraging interdisciplinary learning and research.
