I am a materials chemist, and my research focuses on decarbonising construction materials. I am currently Associate Professor of Chemistry and Associate Dean (Research and Consultancy) at SR University, India. I have more than ten years of postdoctoral experience across India, South Korea and the UK, including roles as a Research Associate at Imperial College London and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Sheffield.
My research covers low-carbon cements, supplementary cementitious materials, alkali-activated and geopolymer binders, CO₂ capture and mineralisation, and waste valorisation. I combine advanced characterisation (XRD, SEM-EDS, TGA/DSC, FTIR, NMR, ICP-MS) with thermodynamic and process modelling (FactSage, Aspen Plus) and data-driven optimisation. I have published 40 journal articles, hold two granted patents, and have more than 2,150 citations (h-index 24). As principal investigator I have won competitive funding from SERB and the European Commission, and I have taken laboratory innovations into industrial trials of concrete pipes, paver blocks, poles and railway sleepers. I also serve as Associate Editor of Frontiers in Built Environment.
As an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), I am committed to student-centred teaching. I have taught undergraduate chemistry, postgraduate polymer science, coatings, corrosion and surface engineering, and computational chemistry. I draw on Kolb’s experiential learning cycle, project-based learning and structured feedback. I have supervised and mentored MSc, MTech and PhD researchers in four countries. I am particularly keen to teach sustainable materials, materials characterisation and green chemistry, and computational chemistry linking research to real engineering challenges.
