My research lies at the intersection of materials chemistry, environmental chemistry, and energy science, with a strong emphasis on the design and development of functional materials for sustainable applications. Through interdisciplinary research, I aim to address important environmental and energy challenges while contributing to a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.
A major focus of my research is water quality and treatment, particularly the development of advanced materials and treatment technologies for the removal and transformation of emerging contaminants, including antibiotics, heavy metals, and other micropollutants. I am particularly interested in understanding their environmental fate and developing efficient, sustainable approaches to water purification and environmental remediation.
My research also extends to resource recovery and circular economy, with a focus on recovering precious group metals (PGMs) from electronic waste and other secondary resources. In parallel, I explore biomass valorization, particularly the conversion of biomass into biofuels and biochar-based functional materials, promoting sustainable resource utilization and waste-to-value strategies.
In the area of energy storage and conversion, my interests include secondary batteries, fuel cells, electrode materials, and electrochemical systems, with particular attention to lead-acid and lead-carbon technologies. I also investigate the development of multifunctional catalysts, surface-engineered materials, and advanced nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications.
My broader research interests encompass inorganic and physical chemistry, photocatalysis, adsorption, and the development of functional materials for diverse applications, including environmental remediation, energy storage, and conversion, as well as emerging areas such as photocatalytic and functional orthodontic materials.
Overall, my research seeks to bridge fundamental chemistry with practical technological solutions through the rational design of materials, mechanistic understanding, and interdisciplinary approaches. I am particularly interested in translating innovative material concepts into sustainable technologies that contribute to environmental protection, resource recovery, and clean energy development.
