Dr. Vaibhav Bhagwan Pandit is an Associate Professor in the School of Agriculture at SR University, Warangal, Telangana, India. He holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science from Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Hyderabad, with a strong academic and research background in soil science, precision agriculture, and sustainable nutrient management.
His research interests encompass soil fertility assessment, site-specific nutrient management, geostatistical analysis, spatial variability of soil properties, precision agriculture, digital soil mapping, remote sensing and GIS applications in agriculture, soil quality assessment, and sustainable land resource management. His doctoral research focused on estimating and evaluating sample size requirements for site-specific nutrient management in maize-growing areas of Telangana using geostatistical techniques.
He has actively contributed to agricultural research through more than 30 research publications and over 20 book chapters in reputed international publications, including Wiley, Springer, CRC Press, and Elsevier. He is also associated with two Indian patents arising from his research contributions.
His research integrates conventional soil analytical techniques with advanced geospatial technologies, statistical approaches, and machine learning tools to understand soil variability and improve agricultural decision-making. His work aims to develop location-specific nutrient management strategies, enhance soil health, optimize fertilizer use, and promote sustainable crop production.
In addition to research, he is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, student mentoring, research guidance, and academic administration. He serves as Head of the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry and contributes to various academic and extension activities, including farmer outreach programmes and soil health awareness initiatives.
His long-term research vision is to advance precision soil management and data-driven agricultural practices for sustainable agriculture and improved resource-use efficiency.
